In-situ metallography is used to examine the microstructure of turbine materials directly on-site without cutting or removing components. The material surface is prepared and then observed using a portable microscope to detect microstructural changes such as wear, corrosion, or overheating. This method is particularly useful for assessing material condition during operation or during brief shutdowns. This examination allows for early detection of material degradation so that maintenance actions can be planned appropriately.
